For years the security vendors with the largest archives of real incident data held the advantage. Hyper-synthetic data, meaning full datasets generated to specification rather than harvested from breaches, erodes it. Writing in ITTech Pulse, SimSpace co-founder and CTO Lee Rossey argues this makes preemptive defense possible, letting teams rehearse against threats that have not yet appeared in anyone’s incident history. Adoption across defense, manufacturing and transportation stood at 15% in 2025, and Gartner projects 80% by 2030. SimSpace puts the approach to work in the AI Proving Grounds, where human operators and AI agents train and test together in realistic replicas of production environments. As Rossey puts it, “the window to prepare is closing quickly.”
