Slovenia ran its first national cyber defence exercise in September 2025, and the point was to learn how state systems hold up under pressure rather than on paper. Kibernetska trdnjava 2025 — Cyber Fortress — was organised by the Ministry of Defence over a week, bringing together roughly 40 specialists from ministries, the Slovenian Armed Forces, the police and SI-CERT to detect, analyse and defend against attacks on national information infrastructure. Slovenian daily Dnevnik covered the drill. It ran on the country’s cyber range, built on the SimSpace platform through the Slovenian-Croatian Cyber Range Connect project that federates national training facilities. The Ministry intends to repeat it annually; since February 2024 the range has hosted ten exercises with 350 participants.
