- Organization Structure: Two enhancements improve the administrator’s experience.
Administrators can choose between two ways of viewing their organization’s structure.
- Use the new Individual View to display a list of all users in the organization. Group View visualizes the organization’s structure through a tree that places users within their respective groups. (PRTL-4959)
- Use a new filtering option to easily find users with specific roles in the organization’s structure. Select the roles, and then enable the new Hide Unselected option. (PRTL-4960)
Fixes
- Export to External Library with partial access: Exports of the manifest of manifests to the external library failed when you only had partial access to its bundled assets. For example, if the SCPs were shared with you but their linked content modules weren’t shared. Now the export succeeds. (PRTL-5031)
- Export SCPs with duplicate clone sources: An export to the external library failed when a SCP had multiple content modules that used the same clone source. The export now completes successfully. (PRTL-4987)
- Scrollbar for attack campaigns: When selecting an attack scenario, you couldn’t always scroll down to attach attack objectives. There is now a scrollbar available. (PRTL-4977)

Now, an accurate representation of all available resources displays when administrators view reservations, select an organization group, and enable Show Available. (PRTL-4774)
- Can’t export ticket correlation report as CSV file: When the manager of a live action event (LAE) in which attacks had been run attempted to export a CSV file, a 404 error occurred. The file now exports without issue. (PRTL-4863)
- Extra modifier error in network specifications: An extra modifier error had occurred when a manager manually added a user to a network specification. Now, the extra modifier error does not occur. (PRTL-4810)
- Upload through structured content plan (SCP)-exporter-service: The upload process failed if network connectivity dropped when transferring SCP dependencies to the external library. The service now retries uploads when interruptions occur, and the number of retries is configurable. (PRTL-4883)
- Edit network specifications: If a network interruption occurred while you were editing a network specification, the page reloaded and resulted in a loss of all pending changes. Interruptions in connectivity no longer cause such loss. (PRTL-4679)
Version 6.25
Fixes & Updates
- Logged authorization token: A Platform server logged an error message that included an authentication bearer token, which created a security risk. Now, SimSpace Platform doesn’t log authorization values. (PRTL-4687)
- Disable Rapid Range: The Rapid Range beta program concluded. Rapid Range is now disabled by default. (PRTL-4684)
- Deployment percentages: Deployment percentages displayed long values when the result was an irrational number. Deployment percentages are now rounded to the nearest tenth of a percent. (PRTL-1186)
- Structured content event (SCE) redeployment status: When an SCE range failed to deploy and you selected the option to redeploy, there was no visual indication that your range was redeploying. The failure message stayed visible, although the range could be seen redeploying in vCenter. Now, the message updates to “Deploying Range” and correctly indicates the current status of the range. (PRTL-3795)
- List pages broken due to broken deployment targets: SimSpace Platform displayed a spinning icon and a 500 error when Portal Admins viewed Deployment Targets or any page with broken targets or vCenter connection issues. Now, pages with deployment targets display correctly, and broken deployment targets show informative error messages. (PRTL-4424)
- Content references not shown when deletion failed: When an Admin attempted to delete content in Content Authoring and the content had references preventing that deletion, no error message appeared to indicate that the deletion had failed or why. Now, Admins receive an informative error message describing why the content can’t be deleted and a link showing where the content is referenced. (PRTL-4499).
- Automated attacks fail to run with large ranges: On ranges that had more than 600 virtual machines, automated attacks failed to run. Now, automated attacks run on ranges with 600 or more virtual machines. (PRTL-4674)

- Edit circuits: As an Organization Administrator editing a circuit, selecting View Details for a structured content plan generated an oops error when you didn’t have view access but still added it to that circuit. The system now displays a clear message that states you have insufficient access privileges to view that record’s details. (PRTL-2878)
- Export clone sources: As an Organization Administrator viewing clone sources from within a network specification, exports weren’t possible when a clone source didn’t have a reference to either a content module or a deployment. Now, exports are always possible regardless of the references present. (PRTL-3260)
- Delete deployment target: Portal administrators were unable to delete a deployment target due to a 500 series server error that occurred but wasn’t displayed to them. Deletions now complete successfully for deployment targets. (PRTL-4113)
- Save file management links: A clarification to the onscreen text now states that file download links are one-time use only. (PRTL-4486)

- Linux user emulation: It was unclear whether a Linux user emulation (UE) account was part of a network domain or a local user account, due to the system showing site.lan for those accounts. It’s now clear that Linux UE are local accounts. (PRTL-4528)
- Manage files: As the Event Manager of a live action event that included a range and a file uploaded through file management, selecting that file generated an oops error. Now, the file‘s details display. (PRTL-4585)
- Reservation end date: As an administrator creating a range, it wasn’t possible to create a reservation because the end date selector was always disabled. Administrators can now select end dates and complete their reservations. (PRTL-4592)
- Work role requirements: As an administrator creating requirements for work roles or reservations, you were previously unable to select a date or close out that calendar. Now, the calendar works as you’d expect. (PRTL-4612)
- Security improvements to the SimSpace Platform after penetration testing:
- Code execution in CSV files: A vulnerability enabled insertion of untrusted user input into the Content Module’s Task Title. When that was exported to a CSV file, downloaded, and opened by the web browser it was possible to unknowingly execute a formula injection with local code execution. Now, user input faces additional input validation and escape encoding to prevent it. (PRTL-4449)
- No restrictions on file uploads: Various Content Authoring pages enabled you to upload any file type. Files, such as XML files, were executed at upload location. This created a vulnerability where execution of code was possible. You can now only upload files with PNG and PDF extensions to prevent this. (PRTL-4450)
- File type validation: As an administrator viewing or editing a content module, you could successfully upload a file that used a permitted extension but actually contained unpermitted file content. Now, MIME type validation rejects the file due to its internal contents, rather than trusting the file’s extension. (PRTL-4590)
- Various back-end and API endpoint improvements: Back-end components have updates to help improve compatibility, interoperability, and other functions. (PRTL-4471, PRTL-4473, PRTL-4509, PRTL-4540, PRTL-4559, PRTL-4561, PRTL-4581, PRTL-4635)

Fixes
- SCE task chains: Participants in a SCE were stuck in a loading state when they tried to access previously unanswered tasks in SCE task chains. If the user could access the previous task, they were unable to answer any questions and had to forfeit. Users can now access previously unanswered tasks and provide answers to questions. (PRTL-4267)
- SCE question retry issues: Participants in SCEs who incorrectly answered a question with available retries were unable to submit an alternative answer. If the participant refreshed the page, they were unable to continue their participation in the SCE. The question task changed into an information task. Participants who incorrectly answer questions with available retries are now able to select another answer. Participants can continue their participation in the SCE, and the question task doesn’t transform into an information task when the page refreshes. (PRTL-4331)

- API endpoint and script: An API is now available to extract audit log data for clone source, deployment, and deployment target.
- Bulk REST API service: Use the bulk REST API service to audit and extract information about all shares of and restrictions to content within structured content plans.
- Start Event button: The Start Event button for structured content events was enabled even though self-enrollment was disabled. Now, the Start Event button is hidden when self-enrollment is disabled.
- Open in Content App button: When editing network specification items, there was a button incorrectly labeled Open in Content App. The button is now correctly labeled Open in Network Design.
- Continue Events button: The Continue Events button was labeled using sentence case rather than title case. The button label now displays in title case to remain consistent.
- Long usernames: Usernames in Team Composition overlapped the available space and interfered with the More Actions menu. Now, long usernames wrap and truncate with hover text to ensure boundaries are respected.
- Scheduled structured content events warning: When participants opened a scheduled SCE, they received a misleading warning. Now, participants receive the message “This event is scheduled to begin at” with the event’s start date and time.
- Team type filter results: In Team Composition, the Team Type filter returned no results. That filter is now disabled.
- Task breakdown hidden: Participant task breakdown for self-enrolled events was hidden if the page was refreshed. The data in task breakdown now always displays in full.
- Virtual machine access: Removing a virtual machine template from a network specification removed virtual machine access. Removal of a virtual machine’s template now does not impede access to the virtual machine.
- Work Role Readiness Requirements: Users received errors when they tried to update, delete, or replace Work Role > Readiness Requirements. Users can now update, delete, or replace Readiness Requirements from a Work Role without errors.
- Role permission notifications: When a participant’s role permissions were changed while they were viewing a live action event, they were not notified of the permissions change. Now, participants are notified “Event Manager has modified access” and the page automatically refreshes to reflect that permission change.
- Adding attack scenarios: When attack scenarios were added to live action events, the process sometimes took longer than expected and sometimes failed. It’s now significantly faster to add attack scenarios to live action events and the prior timeout failures are now resolved.
- Changes to a network specification: Under certain circumstances, users received vague errors when they attempted to save changes to a network specification. Now, if there is an error when a user saves changes to a network specification, the errors are clearly reported. Otherwise, the user can save the network specification.
- Delete work roles: When a user selected some work roles within a structured content plan (SCP) and then selected the Delete Work Roles button, all work roles associated with the SCP were deleted. Now, only the selected work roles are deleted.
- Create a live action plan (LAP): Users were unable to create a live action plan (LAP) from an existing live action event when the Attack Campaign option was enabled and attacks were present. Now, users can successfully create LAPs without error.
- Return to Event Lobby button: The Return to Event Lobby button was labeled using sentence case rather than title case. The button label now displays in title case to remain consistent.
- Range deployment notification: During Candidate Assessments, users were not notified of successful range deployment. Users now see the range deployment status update automatically.
- Start Now button: The Start Now button within structured content events sometimes rendered inconsistently. The Start Now button now renders consistently.
- Automated Scenarios Warning: When a user accessed the CKT and VM Tags page within a live action event, an obsolete warning appeared. Now, no obsolete warnings appear.

- Erroneous error message: A misleading “not enough resources” message displayed within self-enroll structured content events (SCEs). Now, error responses show the correct, underlying cause.
- Clone sources created without a deployed network: It was possible to create clone sources without a deployed network, which caused empty, unusable clone sources. Now, validation ensures that you first deploy a network before creating a new clone source.
- Attack scenario erroneous draft status: The status of existing attack scenarios changed to draft when updating the SimSpace automated attack platform (SAAP). Existing attack scenarios no longer change from published to draft status after updating SAAP. Attack scenarios remain in published status.
- Invalid subnet address error message: Invalid subnet addresses resulted in non-specific error messages. Error messages now state when an invalid classless inter-domain routing (CIDR) address is incorrect for subnet addresses on the network specification.
- Team selection issue: Selecting a team within the Personnel app didn’t take you directly to that team within the organization structure, nor did it scroll or highlight the selected team. Selecting a team within the Personnel app’s multi-tiered organizational structure (MTO) tree now navigates you directly to that highlighted team on the MTO page.
- Configured expiration dates not respected: New user welcome by organization (NUWBO) SCP didn’t adhere to the expiration date. Now, NUWBOs adhere to the SCP’s set duration and end afterwards.
- SCE hang condition: Removing a previously selected SCP from an SCE caused the SCE page to hang. You can now clear the previously selected SCP, select a new SCP, and then create an SCE without delay.
- Candidates range status doesn’t dynamically update: The candidate manager’s Detail View didn’t automatically update range status after deployment, which necessitated manually refreshing the web browser page. Now, the range’s status dynamically updates on that page, which eliminates the need to manually refresh the browser.
- User interface text and graphical updates: Various user interface text and graphical updates have been implemented to improve the user experience.
- User Emulation – VM Validation Improvements: VMs resume validation, and validate successfully, when they are deployed, shut down, or rebooted in the middle of validation.

- Circuits “Up Next” link is broken: The “Up Next” link within circuits with an incomplete SCP resulted in a 404 error. Now, you can select the “Up Next” link without error. (PRTL-3833)
- Live Action Plans event creation error: Creating a live action event from a live action plan generated an error message even though the live action event was created. Now, no errors are generated when a live action event is successfully created, and there are more informative errors if creation fails. (PRTL-3822)
- User interface text and graphical updates: Various user interface text and graphical updates have been implemented to improve the user experience.

Sharing settings hang when there are no sharing targets: Fixed an issue where, when sharing an item in Network Design or Content Authoring, if a user removed the users that the item was shared with and then saved the item, the sharing option would hang. Now, the sharing settings appear even when there are no users with whom the item is shared. (PRTL-2715)
Error when viewing PDFs in Ticket Correlation: Viewing PDF files in Live Action Event > Ticket Correlation resulted in an access error. Now, you can view PDFs from Ticket Correlation without error. (PRTL-3458)
No hover text on long range names: In Events > Live Action Events, when viewing an event with a long range name, the name of the associated deployed network was truncated, but no hover text appeared when mousing over the name that showed the full name. Now, hovering over the truncated name displays hover text with the full name. (PRTL-2997)

Deployment target creation and editing: Resolved an issue where problems with the VCenter or NSX password resulted in a 500 server error when creating or editing deployment targets. Now, users receive a meaningful error message so they can correct the password issues.
Content modules with range management VMs: Resolved an issue where content modules could be created with VMs that were tagged as anything other than vm1, vm2, or BLUE. This resulted in the user not having the option to open a VM Console. Now, users cannot create content modules that include VMs intended for range management, and can select only those VMs with tags of vm1, vm2, or BLUE.
VCenter content import: Resolved an issue where importing many OVAs into VCenter resulted in failure. Now, imports are staggered so the process completes successfully.
